Microsoft Word Tutorial: Lesson 2

Microsoft Word Tutorial: Lesson 2
Welcome,
I will take you through the menu bar in Microsoft Word.
what is a menu bar? According to my own understanding, Menu bar in Microsoft word is a set of quick links to other areas you can work with in a document.
Menu Bar, Contains the following:
1.       Home
2.       Insert
3.       Page Layout
4.       References
5.       Mailings
6.       Review
7.       View
These are the list of what you can find on the menu bar of Microsoft Word 2007.

But before we go on: there are some shortcuts or what I can call icons on top of the menu bar. Things contained there are:
1.       Office Button
2.       Save Icon
3.       Undo Icon
4.       Redo Icon
5.       Customize
Let's start by exploring the options under Office Button Icon:
click on this button, it will display 9(nine) caption.
the first caption is NEW
when you click on it, it will bring up a dialogue box. The dialogue box will look like this:

click on BLANK DOCUMENT for now.
click OK.
If you click on NEW BLOG POST, that means you will need to register your word application. In this tutorial for now, follow those steps I gave you.
We will come back to that later.

After you have created a new blank document then your documents should be opened without any words written on it.
Therefore, start typing.
As an example, type the words below.
" Most employers maintain policies that prohibit use of illegal drugs or excessive amounts of alcohol. Many laws also regulate the use of such substances. Managers cannot be viewed by employees as violating those policies or laws if management is to be respected. To maintain the integrity of such employer policies, managers must manifest compliance with those policies. Moreover, some employees have prejudices or preconceived notions about the use of these substances that may affect their views of management. For these and other reasons, it is simply not appropriate for managers to discuss their use of these substances at work."
Next on the Office Button is OPEN.
the truth is: you cannot open an unsaved document, therefore' in order to know how it works,
go back to the documents you just typed.
click on Office Button Icon
Click on save.----- a dialogue.. box will be displayed, just like the one below:

choose a folder to save
type the name you want to save the document with.
choose your document category.
click on save.
